Shakopee Public Schools teacher dies in crash in Edina

EDINA, MN – A Shakopee Public Schools teacher is dead following a single-vehicle crash that happened on US-169 in Edina yesterday afternoon.

KSTP reports that the fatal collision happened at about 12:40 p.m. on April 26. Ryan Michael Eiler, a 32-year-old resident of Champlin, was traveling north on US-169 when his vehicle abruptly swerved to the left and crashed into the concrete jersey barrier.

Emergency responders rushed Eiler to an area hospital, where he died.

Eiler had been a health and physical education instructor at Academies of Shakopee High School since 2021. He joined the boys’ sprint track and field team as an assistant coach last year. He was also a member of the Army National Guard.
