LNR General Accident 1

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – One person is in the hospital and another is in police custody after a car crashed into the CC Club in the Lowry Hills East neighborhood yesterday.

This story updates our earlier reporting.

CBS News says that a Chevrolet SUV and a Honda sedan collided with each other at the intersection of W 26th Street and Lyndale Avenue S at about 6:30 a.m. yesterday. The force of the collision sent the Honda barreling into the CC Club, a a well-known local dive bar.

Emergency responders rushed that driver to Hennepin Healthcare to be treated for life-threatening injuries.

Police say the SUV’s driver may have brandished a firearm at the other driver prior to the accident and possibly even fired off a shot. Police arrested that individual on suspicion of assault.

The chain of events leading up to the collision remains under investigation.
